George and Karen met in
On the 30th of June, 2003, an event transpired which sharpened the focus of Karen’s life in a way she could never have imagined. Although she was only 41 years old, Karen suffered a major heart attack. Her heart stopped twice during this time, but miraculously, the Lord spared her life, and she has fully recovered. This traumatic event caused her to think more deeply about the significance of each person’s life, and especially about the frailty of life. During a season of soul-searching in the months after the heart attack, she asked herself, “If the Lord had taken me at that time, what would my children have remembered of me? What have I built into their lives of real value and worth?” With this refocused point of view, she and George determined to pour out their accumulated knowledge and the anointing of God into the lives of their children, and they took the promises of Scripture in this regard fully to heart.
"As for me, this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of their descendants from this time on and forever," says the LORD." [Isaiah 59:21.]
“We realised this was the greatest thing we could do for our children. We literally take every opportunity to teach our children spiritual truth and direct it back to relationship with the Lord,” says Karen. “The writing of this book has stemmed from the decision we made as parents and the deep cry from within our hearts to build the spiritual lives of our children as our top priority.”
The goal that George and Karen envision is that in the near future, their children will stand beside them as equipped and anointed ministers of the Gospel, as they engage in Christian ministry as a family in
